Books I've read throughout February 2026
So throughout February I managed to read 4 books bringing the total number of books for the year to 9. Well if I wanted to be technical I could say 11, as one of the books was comprised of 3 short stories. Anyway here are the books I read in chronological order.
The first book I read this month was called Platformland, it is mainly focused on creating the next generation of public services. The author Richard Pope was part of the founding team at GDS where I currently work, and the book I felt was quite relevant to the stuff I’m working on day to day. Not sure if I would recommend it though unless you work in Government as that is the main focus of the book.
The second book I read was The Sign of Four, another Sherlock Holmes book, this time it is about stolen treasure in Indian and revenge. Overall another enjoyable read not sure which I preferred between A Study in Scarlet or this book. I do quite like how in the first book you are taken to America and the rise of Mormonism and in this book to Indian and the outbreak of the war.
The third book I read this month was The Knight of the Seven Kingdoms which is comprised of 3 short stories: The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword, and The Mystery Knight. The main reason for reading this book is due to wanting to watch the series on TV which is based on the book The Hedge Knight. I am still waiting for The Winds of Winter but I must admit I quite enjoyed the tales of Dunk and Egg. Compared to the main series it is on a much smaller scale which I think is quite a nice juxtaposition. I think I probably enjoyed the Mystery Knight the most but all 3 stories are very enjoyable and would recommend them to anyone.
The last book I read this month is the third book in the Thursday Murder Club called The Bullet that Missed. The plot is around the murder of Bethany Waites and a VAT scam she discovered, quite an enjoyable read if I’m being honest; like the other two books in the series easy to digest. Looking forward to the final two books and see what other murders the gang solves. If you like easy reads on murder mysteries I would recommend this series, my only complaint I do find quite a lot of the chapters overly short.
I think it has been quite a good month on reading again, up to 9 books total for the year! What a shock. Admittedly I mainly just read fiction but I do find if I’m reading too much non-fiction they kind of all blur into one, especially the smart thinking genre of books I use to only read. But here is to next month and getting into the double digits of total books I have read for 2026.
Thanks, Nathan.
