Books I read in September

Books I've read throughout September 2026

Last month I’ve finally completed all six Dune books by Frank Herbert, only took me over 2 years! But what a series, well worth reading. Also I read a total of 4 books in September taking my total for the year to 27 books.

Heretics of Dune

The first book I read in September was Heretics of Dune, in which Honored Matres are coming back from the Scattering which happened after the death of Leto. I won’t go into the details of the book but I did really enjoy the plot and it is probably my second favourite Dune book, plus I do like Teg as a character especially after the T-Probe.

Chapter House Dune

Chapter House carries on from Heretics of Dune which is about the Honored Matres at war with the Bene Gesserit. I thought it was a good follow on novel which I think is worth the read and especially it being the last book Frank Herbert finished before passing away for Dune. Well worth the read if you have read Heretics of Dune.

London Falling

The third book I read this month was a non-fiction book call London Falling based on a death of a 19 year boy. I know I’m not one for non-fiction usually but it is for a book club I’m intending to attend. Overall I thought it was a great book into the events leading up to, during and after of the death of Zak Brettler. It was my first Patrick Radden Keefe book and I do intend on reading more of his work after this novel.

The Lathe of Heaven

The last book I read this month was The Lathe of Heaven which was recommended to me by someone at work. And what an interesting read it was! Basically Charlie Orr when dreaming can change reality where each “effective” dream he has with Dr. William Haber dramatically changes what is real. I thought it is well worth reading and the moral questions it raises are quite interesting and it was just a fun read.

Thanks, Nathan.
