To be good at anything consistency is the key
Recently I’ve been thinking about how I can improve at my hobbies outside of work, which always leads me to realise there isn’t any magic formula. The only way you can truly become good at anything is about being consistent, turning up even when you don’t want to.
I’m currently training for my second marathon this year and aiming to get sub 4 hours, I know the only way I’ll be able to achieve this is by turning up to my training runs even if I’ve already had a long day. I try and put this same energy into my other hobbies, admittedly as of late I haven’t been the best at doing this.
Why you might ask? Well it is because I haven’t been consistent this year with anything else. Well I tell a lie I have also been consistent with reading too. But the point is I have stuff I want to achieve and the only way I’ll be able to do that is by turning up, even when I don’t want to.
This post is mainly a promise to myself to be consistent. Just remember the next time you want to skip a workout or not work on a side project you are only slowing down your progress.
Thanks, Nathan.
