Hobbies outside of coding

Saying goodbye to coding as a hobby

As of late I’ve been trying not to feel the consistent guilt of no longer coding outside of work. Admittedly I’ve always struggled with this, as I just constantly felt like I needed to be working on something new. I often put constant pressure on myself where I would just end up not enjoying it.

Basically what I’m trying to say is I am giving myself permission to take a break from coding as a hobby. Which is healthy to want to explore different hobbies outside of work, as with myself I’ve been focusing more on my fitness and reading. If you were to ask me this last year I would have thought don’t be silly I need to constantly code else how would I be any good at my job.

If you’re feeling the same why not give yourself permission to take a break to reflect and go from there. Last thing you want is to burnout and just want to quit everything. Remember that we only have a limited time on this planet and no one will care if you’ve mastered your hundredth coding language.

Thanks, Nathan.
